Our Mission
Our mission is to help survivors of coercive control and other forms of domestic violence to live beyond just surviving – to Thrive. Let's Make Opportunities
Homelessness and affordable housing is a national problem. However, the fastest growing population experiencing homelessness or needing affordable homes are women and children.
"According to multiple studies examining the causes of homelessness, among mothers with children experiencing homelessness, more than 80% have previously experienced domestic violence"*
Thrive After DV's goal is to provide affordable housing to survivors of coercive control, rape, and other forms of DV. Our vision is to build a community of short-term and long-term housing to help survivors thrive. You can help make this happen with your donation.

"Thrive After DV tirelessly worked to protect me and my children through their advocacy. After my abuser came to my house with gun, they were able to help me obtain a ten year protective order and work with the detectives to ensure a warrant was issued. He was arrested and we are now safe."
Jane H. Doe
Who We Serve
Jane B. Doe
Jane B. had her apartment for over five years and a career she loved before she became ill. Eventually she was hospitalized beginning a journey where a plethora of doctor appointments became a regular occurrence. Jane B. began to miss work with her health worsening. She transitioned from working full time to hardly able to work at all. Desperate, Jane B. worked with popular county and city resources for rent and utility assistance. She went to churches and family when she became bedridden. Sometimes she went for days without food unable to cook or feed herself. The county and city rent assistance programs couldn't continue to help her and when rent was missed, the landlord sent a 3-day to quit notice and the threat of eviction. On the third day, a Saturday, she was referred to Thrive's micro-grant program. In two hours, her rent and fees were paid in full giving her another month to finalize long-term funding to support her. One year later, she still has her apartment.
Jane A. Doe
After fleeing her home due to domestic violence, Jane A.’s abuser decided to leverage the family court system against her. Because of legal costs and fees she was not able to afford her own home, and for the past 5 years has been couch surfing with friends and family while trying to raise her young child.
Jane A. applied to many different programs. Some disqualified her due to not having enough income, some disqualified her for having an income, while others disqualified her due to her residency status or lack thereof. One instance, Jane A. was on the waitlist for a housing program for over 12 months but because she had to move out of the county she was automatically disqualified and removed from the waitlist, having to start from ground zero. Thrive’s main goal is to provide housing with few restrictions so people like Jane A. Doe can rebuild their lives with a sense of structure and safety, with affordable housing tailored to their needs.
